We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the Blood Sciences Department at Forth Valley Royal Hospital as part of the Central Specimen Reception team. The role contributes to a safe, effective and efficient Blood Science service for NHS Forth Valley.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide line management, supervision and support to more than 18 Healthcare Scientist support workers.
* Collaborate with the senior Biomedical Scientist (BMS) team to improve sample workflow.
* Develop staff rota, conduct Personal Development Reviews, deliver and maintain staff training and competency.
* Manage specimen reception duties, including workflow management.
Working Pattern
Combination of day shifts (up to 17:00) and backshifts (up to 20:00) with weekend and public holiday work as required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Education to at least SVQ/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
* Significant experience in a supervisory or training role.
* Excellent typing/keyboard skills and IT literacy.
* Previous experience in a medical laboratory desirable.
* Must be able to work quickly and accurately; mistakes may result in incorrect results being reported.
Additional Information
* Successful candidates will be required to complete a Level 2 Disclosure Scotland check.
* As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata, but the hourly rate will be increased to maintain pay.
