Operational Readiness Manager - Reading, Berkshire, RG7 4PRJob Type: Full-TimeSalary: £60000 - £97940 per annumAWE is currently recruiting for a number of Operational Readiness Managers to join a newly formed team as part of an exciting initiative to improve comprehensive project delivery.Location: Reading / BasingstokeSalary: £60,000 - £97,940Operational Readiness Managers (ORM) are functionally led by a central Operational Readiness and Transition (OR&T) Branch - who deploy ORMs to programmes/ projects /Technology Centres, - where along with other specialists - they form an Operational Readiness Transition Team. The ORM is a fundamental role that plays a key part in the delivery of the AWE capability through representing the end-user/operators (who may task manage them) - ensuring that operational factors are incorporated and integrated into project planning from the outset and reflected in concepts, requirements, contractual, commercial, design and delivery plans/documents. The ORM is a key member of the AWE Intelligent Customer group - and is central to planning and managing the Transition Phase of projects - to ensure that when assets/outputs are delivered they are able to operate and ramp up to initial then full operating capability seamlessly and without delay. It is intended they lead a Designate Operations Team (DOT) (a developing concept). To be Successful in this role:You will have credible experience in an operational readiness, project management or capability management context - where achieving operational or capability readiness is a prime consideration. You will have experience of the leadership of teams in project environments. You will be comfortable working under dual functional and task management arrangements, operating across a range of levels, in a dynamic group context; and be able to operate with a range of project delivery and user/operator stakeholders - including the supply chain.With strong project, capability and/or operational management skills, you will be experienced in/understand capability management and operational readiness considerations, and you will understand the components of operational readiness - and be able to provide appropriate insights. You will be able to effectively employ and manage a range of common P3M tools and techniques across the project lifecycle range, and you will have some appropriate knowledge/experience of commercial and financial considerations. You will: Be confident in operating at length from the parent function; be able to operate credibly at senior level; have strong oral and written communication skills; be effective at influencing others, promoting operational excellence and building long term relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will be flexible and able to adapt a generic approach to specific deployments; and comfortable with change and uncertainty. Key Accountabilities:To deliver operational readiness planning, management, guidance and direction for assigned projects. Ensure a focus on operational readiness leading to capability delivery.Analyse, plan, corral and integrate the inputs, systems, processes, procedures, personnel and other enablers required to enable the asset to operate, ensuring they are synchronised with asset delivery, installation, commissioning.Develop and own the Operational Readiness and Transition Plans (incorporating OR&T process and governance; personnel and financial resource plans) and responsible for OR&T reporting within assigned projects to task and functional chains.Functionally accountable for OR&T delivery to the ORT Group Leader and Technology Centre Head. Key Responsibilities:Within the project construct, operate as tasked by the Technology Centre (or equivalent) lead, representing the operator in respect of OR.Support and working with the Capability/Project Sponsor, Project Manager and the Technology Centre (the User/Operator) - ensure all issues on all lines of activity/development required to enable asset operation are identified, owned, addressed, and resolved.Ensure comprehensive cross lines of development/activity integration and stakeholder management to support achieving optimal operational readiness.Deliver the Operational Readiness Integration Working Group; Operational Readiness Plan; Transition Plan. Coordinate and manage the Transition Phase. Coordinate, cohere and integrate a range of specialist inputs that support OR and Transition delivery. Lead, coach and develop the Designate Operations Team (once formed).Support broader project management activities (e.g., planning, recruitment, training, manpower mobilization, cost control) through project phases into operations.Act as part of the assurance process, including ensuring projects and the future operators comply with applicable laws, regulations, licences and permit requirements.Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player. Although not essential, we are particularly interested in individuals with the following:Degree or equivalent in a related discipline. Membership of a relevant professional body. Evidence of programme/project management competence e.g., MSP, APM qualifications.Capability Management experience.Experience of infrastructure enabled change programmes/projects or infrastructure/engineering or other technical programmes and projects .Experience of working in regulated environments.
