Wells Golf Club, set in the heart of the Somerset countryside, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Food & Beverage Manager to lead and develop its hospitality operations. About the Club
Wells Golf Club is a Member’s Club, founded in 1893, situated on the outskirts of the historic City of Wells, close to Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole caves. A beautiful, challenging 18-hole parkland course nestled in the Mendip Hills is renowned as an extremely friendly club. There’s always a warm welcome for visitors, societies, new members and for those who just want to relax and take in the scenery whilst having a drink and something to eat – seven days a week.
The Role
Reporting to: Club Manager
Provide an excellent and varied 4/5* Food & Beverage service to The Club Membership.
* Work extremely closely with the Head Chef to ensure synergy and optimal performances are being achieved by the kitchen team and the food & beverage service team.
* Achieve the F&B Operating Budget through optimizing sales opportunities and controlling department costs.
* Engage with Club Members regarding Food & Beverage issues, events and promotions.
* Handle Member enquiries, suggestions and complaints relating to Food & Beverage at Wells Golf Club while keeping the Club Manager fully informed of all such matters.
* Be responsible for the successful implementation of HACCP policies and procedures.
* Review and implement Health and Safety procedures to ensure staff and Club Members are provided with a safe environment in which to work, eat & drink and socialise.
* Maintain a six-monthly calendar of events for the Food & Beverage department.
* Present to the Club Manager for consideration, Promotions, Events and Incentives for Members involvement.
* Responsible for ensuring that optimum use of all Food & Beverage resources and facilities is being achieved.
* Identify the need for and manage changes that reflect trends in the Food & Beverage industry.
* Assist in developing a yearly Operational and Capital Expenditure budget for the Food & Beverage department.
* Coordinate, support and supervise the staff within the Food & Beverage department.
* Chair weekly meetings with Food & Beverage staff.
* Have responsibility for the individual and team performance and of the Food and Beverage Service team.
* Ensure that effective and efficient staff rosters are being maintained.
* Approve F&B staff holiday requests and ensure optimum cover for all Food & Beverage facilities.
* Ensure all F&B service staff receive regular training to ensure ongoing staff development.
* Conduct annual staff performance appraisals and mid-year performance reviews.
* Evaluate and recommend to the Club Manager new candidates for staff vacancies.
* Liaise with the Cleaner and maintenance team to ensure cleanliness standards across the Food and Beverage department and timely repairs are being maintained.
* Liaise with suppliers of Food & Beverage equipment, food items and beverages.
* With the support of the Club Manager, ensure optimal promotion of all Food and Beverage activities is being maintained.
* Undertake any additional duties as required.
