Job Title: Engineering Supervisor/Programmer
Location: York, PA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
Salary: 85,000 to 92,000 based on experience
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor/Programmer to lead the design, programming, and implementation of custom automation systems. This role combines hands-on controls engineering, customer interaction, and team leadership in a dynamic, project-driven environment.
Allen-Bradley PLC experience is absolutely required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop equipment control systems including hardware and software
* Program PLCs and HMIs using Allen-Bradley platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, FactoryTalk View Studio ME)
* Create control panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, and electrical schematics
* Design high and low voltage wiring systems
* Review electrical drawings and provide direction to team members
* Conduct research and development and perform testing to validate new equipment designs
* Manage component purchasing and inventory for projects
* Ensure compliance with quality control and safety standards
* Train and support subordinates on equipment operation and function
* Oversee UL Certification Program
* Provide technical support before, during, and after equipment installation
* Troubleshoot systems remotely and on-site
* Maintain and update software on engineering and service laptops
* Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure project success
* Report to VP of Operations when onsite and to the Service Manager during field work
Requirements:
* Minimum of 4 years of experience with Allen-Bradley PLC systems is required
* Strong knowledge of Ladder Logic, HMI programming, and motion control
* Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles
* Ability to design and document PLC and HMI architecture
* Familiarity with field wiring and troubleshooting at customer sites
* Excellent problem-solving and logical reasoning skills
* Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and in a leadership role
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally with the ability to obtain a passport
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
* Must be able to lift 35 to 50 pounds
* Frequent use of hands and arms to handle tools and equipment
* Occasional travel for system start-up, commissioning, and training
