The Overview
A skilled TIG Welder is required to join a well-established engineering environment producing high-quality fabricated components. This role involves precision welding and fabrication work carried out to exacting standards, following technical drawings and documented procedures. The position would suit an experienced welder who takes pride in quality, consistency, and safe working practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out precision TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminium components, including pipework and fabricated assemblies.
* Complete final welding passes on assembled fabrications to a high-quality finish.
* Perform inert gas back-purged pipe welding on thin-wall stainless steel pipe, achieving compliant root and cap welds.
* Fabricate box-section and tubular components in line with recognised welding standards.
* Undertake MIG welding tasks on mild steel when required.
* Carry out general fabrication duties including preparation, fettling, and finishing.
* Take ownership of work quality through personal identification and inspection.
* Produce test welds for internal and external inspection to maintain welding approvals.
* Work in line with health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe environment for yourself and others.
The Candidate
Experience in TIG welding within an engineering or fabrication environment.
Confident reading and working from engineering and fabrication drawings.
Experienced using standard workshop equipment and tooling.
Strong focus on quality, with the ability to self-inspect and flag issues when required.
Proven experience of back-purged stainless steel pipe welding to recognised standards.
Comfortable welding both with and without jigs or fixtures.
Reliable, detail-focused, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Salary
£16.00 – £18.00 per hour, depending on experience.
