We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Mental Health for West Wiltshire and Devizes (WWKD). This post is an existing post, which has become vacant due to the post-holder moving into a new post.
The WWKD CMHT covers patients from the CCG of the same name. The area is a mix of small villages and market towns including Devizes, Melksham, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Westbury and Warminster. There are 18 GP practices in the area with a total population of approximately 165000 of all ages. The team has office bases in Shearwater Lodge in Warminster and Green Lane Hospital Devizes. Community clinic facilities are available on a series of other sites within the catchment area.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver direct interventions to service users at a level of intensity according to need, including those who require an assertive approach and are difficult to engage. This includes ongoing assessment, diagnosis (including review and clarification) and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
* Provide medical input and leadership to the WWKD CMHT with particular responsibility for patients from surgeries in Melksham and Trowbridge.
* Provide advice to members of the Multi‑Disciplinary Teams in the WWKD CMHT and attend regular MDT meetings.
* Assess and treat outpatients in clinics.
* Hold CPA meetings for outpatients.
* Visit patients in their own place of residence if clinically indicated.
* Liaise with other parts of the service, GPs and non‑NHS organisations wherever applicable.
* Liaise with the Intensive and Inpatient services as appropriate to facilitate the smooth handover of clients between services.
* Fulfil the Responsible Clinician role with respect to patients subject to Community Treatment Orders.
Qualifications
* Essential – MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Desirable – Relevant Higher Degree e.g MD,PHD,Msc or other additional clinical qualifications.
* Desirable – MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Eligibility
* Essential – Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Essential – Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of gaining CCT.
* Essential – Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Essential – Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment.
* Desirable – CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
Experience
* Essential – Experience of assessing and treating patients in a community setting.

* Essential – To possess leadership skills and be able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
* Essential – Ability to manage own time, workload and prioritise clinical work.
* Essential – Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, in order to effectively work with patients, carers and staff.

Clinical Skills
* Essential – Ability to assess and treat psychiatric problems in Adults of working age and to deal with crisis situations.

* Essential – Understanding of the management skills required to function successfully as a Consultant.
