Wellington College is seeking to appoint a passionate and experienced Lead Shooting Coach to support the strategic delivery of our Target Rifle programme. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and values-led Sports Department, where character, wellbeing, and excellence are at the heart of everything we do.
As Lead Shooting Coach, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality coaching across all ability levels, from beginners to county-level athletes. Working closely with the Head of Shooting, you will help shape an inclusive and aspirational environment that nurtures both participation and performance. You will also support the operational management of the Wellington College Target Rifle Club (WCTRC), contributing to the planning and delivery of training, camps, and competitions.
The successful candidate will bring a strong technical background in both smallbore and full-bore disciplines, with recent experience coaching and competing at county level or above. A current civilian range supervisor qualification (NSRA RCO or NRA RSO) is essential, along with a deep understanding of range safety and compliance. Full details of essential experience and qualifications can be found in the job description.
We particularly welcome candidates with experience leading school shooting programmes, military or civilian coaching qualifications, or national-level coaching or competition experience. A willingness to undertake further training such as MIDAS or military driving licences would be advantageous.
At Wellington, sport is more than just competition—it's a vehicle for personal growth. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to holistic development, who can inspire pupils through expert coaching, and who embodies our core values of Kindness, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, and Courage.
Working on a part time basis for 29 hours per week and 38 weeks per year, this role requires flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative spirit. You will be part of a high-performing team that supports pupils' physical, mental, and social development through sport. In return, we offer a supportive and stimulating working environment, outstanding facilities, and a strong commitment to your professional development.
Join us and enjoy a fulfilling career with exceptional benefits designed to support your wellbeing and growth—including generous annual leave, complimentary lunches, professional development opportunities, subsidised gym membership, a generous pension scheme, enhanced family leave, cycle-to-work initiative, free campus parking, tuition fee remission, a health cash plan, and access to our Employee Assistance Programme.
