What You'll Do
As the CAD Designer, you will be responsible for delivering primary engineering design across multiple projects, maintaining quality, consistency, and technical rigour throughout all stages of design. Your responsibilities include:
Produce high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD and Revit for HV and substation projects
Develop primary engineering designs including switchyard layouts, equipment layouts, and general arrangement drawings
Prepare detailed design drawings for substations in line with DNO and National Grid standards
Support the design of HV infrastructure including busbar layouts, plant layouts, and cable routing
Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical engineers to ensure integrated design delivery
Amend and update drawings in accordance with project changes and client feedback
Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK industry standards and regulations
Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and drawing registers
Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
What We're Looking For
HND or Engineering Degree (Mechanical / Civil / Structural Engineering preferred)
Proven experience as a CAD Designer within HV, substations, or power infrastructure projects
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
Demonstrable experience in Primary Engineering design
Experience producing switchyard and substation layout designs
Previous experience working with DNOs, National Grid, or similar utilities environments
Knowledge of UK HV standards and substation design requirements
Strong attention to detail and ability to work to project deadlines
Good communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
