Job Overview

We are recruiting a replacement consultant to join our team following a retirement. This is a full-time substantive post in obstetrics and gynaecology.

The candidate must have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and be registered in the GMC’s specialist register or within six months of obtaining CCT at interview. We are especially interested in candidates with a focus on Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology care, along with broad skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

This role supports the Gynaecology service with an obstetric component, involving consultant-led care and junior doctor training through various working models. There is a general commitment to Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The on-call frequency is approximately 1:10, with the consultant expected to be available within 30 minutes during non-resident out-of-hours periods. The appointee will be responsible for patient care during their duties, with additional support and mentoring available based on experience. The consultant must be physically present on-site during labour ward cover hours.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must work well within a multidisciplinary team, be flexible, and ready to adapt to health service changes in North Wales. Responsibilities include outpatient clinics in obstetrics and gynaecology, labour ward and theatre lists, and participating in a hybrid resident/non-resident on-call rota. The current rota involves twilight cover as resident on call. Work patterns may be reviewed and adjusted over time.
