Job Posting Title: Associate Product Design and Development Manager - Home & Stationary Req ID: 10119974 Job Description: About The Role & Team In conjunction with the Senior Product Design and Development Manager/Product Design and Development Manager, own and execute the product development, design and approval process for specific categories. Support with the development of trend and brand right products for licensees and DTRs, providing technical product design direction, inspiration and support. This is a full-time role, based in our London office in Hammersmith, with four days in the office. What You Will You Do In conjunction with the Senior Product Design and Development Manager/Product Design and Development Manager, develop and manage the creative output from licensees ensuring product innovation, brand consistency and compelling execution within a commercial context Ensure all licensee product submissions are routed through Disney’s Online Product Approval system (OPA) as per global product integrity guidelines Execute the approval process from initiation to production in a timely manner Ensure licensees are provided appropriate creative assets for product development, developing new assets as required against the specific needs of the category and in line with brand guidelines Actively contribute product design input and trend direction POV (point of view) boards and mock ups to inspire licensees/retailers and help drive quality product Inspire licensees through competitor trend research, market and social trends Manage successful working relationships with internal stakeholders, licensees and other external partners Develop and maintain a good knowledge of Disney’s characters, films, properties, heritage and creative assets in order to assist in their usage on consumer products Train and develop all new and existing licensees on the Disney brand, property portfolio, creative assets and approval systems Maintain advanced level of market knowledge for products that fall within specified sub-category Comply with corporate policies and legislation As required, attend ‘inspiration’ trips to broaden understanding of the EMEA marketplace, seeking out ideas and new creative solutions in order to better understand the industry and drive innovation and creativity Provide product design and trend direction, inspiration and feedback to licensees on both 2D application and 3D product submissions in order to drive product quality Required Qualifications & Skills Degree educated in related field (product design, etc.) and/or equivalent experience in lifestyle product company Previous product development and design experience, essential Experience within consumer products commercialisation, beneficial A high level of understanding and market knowledge for products that fall within relevant categories Proven experience creating prototypes or models Proven experience of building effective relationships Working knowledge of common manufacturing techniques and their application in production Some packaging experience, and understanding of style guides for the Online Product Approval (OPA) system, desirable Proven knowledge of fabrics and stitching techniques Strong attention to detail Understanding of fabric, colour and product design Knowledge of trends within the fashion industry and the broader world of fashion design with an ability to interpret trends into commercial designs (fashion roles only) Understanding of production techniques and graphic applications with an eye for colour and shape Adept in communicating a clear design brief to ensure deliverables meet all criteria Skilled in communicating design ideas using CAD drawing, computer techniques and/or third party design resources Exceptional planning and organisation skills with the ability to deliver against set deadlines Ability to effectively present design ideas to internal and external stakeholders as required Working knowledge of Mac OSX, with strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office An ability to influence and support change amongst stakeholders Strong written and spoken English for business use, essential; professional proficiency in other European languages, an advantage Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and prioritise workload effectively Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of local markets across EMEA The Perks 25 days annual leave Private medical insurance & dental care Free Park Entry: the opportunity to enter any of our parks with your family and friends for free Disney Discounts: entitled to discounts on designated Disney products, resort F&B and ticketing Excellent parental and guardian leave Employee Resource Groups – WOMEN @ Disney, Disney DIVERSITY, Disney PRIDE, our new disability & neurodiversity focused group - ENABLED, and our Mental Health & Wellbeing Group, TRUST.
