Job title: Community and Engagement Lead

Reports to: Head of Fundraising

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, worked flexibly

Salary: £30,147 per annum (£15.46 per hour)

Location: Hybrid - Beaumond House Hospice Care, Newark, and remote working

Beaumond House Hospice supports patients and their loved ones to live as fully as possible across North Nottinghamshire. Ensuring our communities receive the care and comfort they need, free of charge, when every moment matters. Our Care is provided in people's homes across our communities and at the Hospice in Newark.

Beaumond House Hospice Care is a registered charity. We provide four In-patient beds, Day Therapy, and Hospice at Home Care. Hospice at Home supports people with palliative and end of life care needs, often in the last weeks and months of life. Our nurses and health care assistants provide assessment, personal care, emotional support, advice, and advance care planning in the person’s preferred place of care.

About the Role

* The Community Engagement Lead is a key role within the Fundraising Team at Beaumond House Hospice Care and representative of the charity within local communities. You will build strong relationships with individuals, community groups, local authorities, and businesses. Inspiring them to support the hospice in their own way and to engage in Hospice led events, activities and appeals.
* Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, you will plan, deliver and develop a programme of community focused activities that engage local audiences, increase understanding of our impact, and inspire people to get involved in ways that make a meaningful difference to patients, their families and loved ones.
* Success in this role requires you to be a people person, creative, adaptable with a proactive approach to community fundraising and engagement. You will help to build awareness, strengthen relationships, and raise income across community initiatives and events while maintaining a positive, professional and consistent brand presence.
* You will develop strong, long‑lasting relationships with supporters, providing informed guidance and encouragement throughout their fundraising journey. With a warm and supporter‑centred approach, you will motivate participants and ensure every interaction reflects the Hospice’s values, delivers an exceptional standard of care, and contributes to maximising income generation.


Role Outcomes

* Deliver a community engagement programme that inspires and delivers measurable engagement with individuals, supporters and community members.
* Develop and steward long-term relationships with supporters, understanding their stories and motivation for supporting the hospice.
* Grow supporter database and engagement in line with agreed KPIs each year.
* Be responsible for agreed income targets within agreed KPIs each year.


Main Duties

* Community Engagement Activity Plan and Income Generation – Deliver planned activities on time and to budget.
* Develop Supporter Relationships and Stewardship – Be the main point of contact and operational support for individuals and community groups.

Programme Management – Maintain and update community and engagement plans.

* Data, Insight, and Continuous Improvement – Maintain accurate data, identify opportunities and segmentation insights.
* Finance, Reporting and Compliance - Ensure that all activity meets budget and regulation requirements from the fundraising code of practice, local authorities, and GDPR.
* Team Working and Volunteers – Work with wider hospice colleagues to champion other income generation activities. Identifying volunteer opportunities.


Community and Engagement Activity Plan and Income Generation

* Lead the research, planning, development and delivery of community fundraising and engagement activities and Hospice‑led initiatives, supporting Head of Fundraising with identifying opportunities to inspire our community participation, advocacy, and achieve income targets.
* Delivery activities to clear objectives, building workplans and monitoring KPIs to progress and adapt plans as needed.
* Develop, test and review a range of community‑focused fundraising activities, both in‑person and digital, ensuring alignment with the annual fundraising activity plan.
* Identify and secure opportunities for the Hospice to benefit from community partnerships, local corporate support, school engagement and third‑party fundraising events.
* In conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Lead, create marketing plans and campaigns that increase community engagement and understanding of the Hospice’s work.
* Develop Supporter Relationships and Stewardship
* Provide excellent customer service to all supporters, community partners and stakeholders, ensuring every interaction reflects the Hospice’s values.
* Develop and manage compassionate supporter journeys for community led fundraising, ensuring tailored stewardship, timely recognition, and personalised communication across face‑to‑face, telephone and digital channels.
* Implement and maintain effective administrative processes to support strong relationship management, ensuring all interactions and activity are accurately recorded on the CRM.
* Proactively recruit new community supporters and re‑engage lapsed individuals, groups, schools and businesses.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Fundraising team to convert one‑off community fundraisers into long‑term supporters of the Hospice.
* Advise and support individuals, groups, local authorities and businesses undertaking community fundraising, ensuring activities follow best practice and comply with the Fundraising Code of Practice, GDPR and all relevant legislation.
* Handle enquiries, concerns and complaints promptly and professionally, in line with Beaumond House policies and procedures.
* Ensure all community fundraising activity complies with the Fundraising Code of Practice, local authority requirements, GDPR and all relevant legislation.
* Use the CRM effectively to record, monitor and track community fundraising activity, analysing data to inform planning and decision‑making.
* Maintain and update community fundraising materials, including campaign collateral, templates, thank‑you letters and welcome packs.
* Ensure accurate processing, reconciliation and reporting of community fundraising income.
* Deliver talks, presentations and awareness sessions to community groups, schools, businesses and other local audiences to increase understanding of the Hospice’s work and inspire involvement.
* Be responsible for our network of collection tins throughout our communities, maintaining relationships with supporters who currently host them and identifying new opportunities to further expand our network of collection tins.
* Research and attend networking opportunities and community events to raise the profile and funds for Beaumond House and recognise the support of individuals, groups and businesses.
* Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Lead to ensure effective promotion of community fundraising opportunities and awareness activities, maximising visibility, engagement and participation across local communities.


Data, Insight and Continuous Improvement

* Capture and analyse data to optimise fundraising and marketing performance.
* Stay abreast of industry best practice, insights and emerging trends.
* Work closely with the Head of Fundraising to improve systems, processes and supporter experience.
* Maintain accurate supporter data and ensure GDPR compliance.
* Use insights to inform segmentation, targeting and campaign development.


Finance, Reporting and Compliance

* In conjunction with the Head of Fundraising effectively manage budgets for community engagement activities.
* Provide regular updates to the Head of Fundraising against forecasted income, expenditure and KPI performance. Advise on any anticipated financial and KPI performance shortfall in activity and together prepare and implement action plans to ensure financial targets and performance are met.
* Maintain accurate CRM and financial records, ensuring all fundraising and donations are acknowledged.
* Ensure compliance with charity law, GDPR, the Fundraising Regulator and Gambling Commission.


Team Working and Volunteers

* Champion community fundraising and engagement activity across the Hospice and work together in line with our Hospice values to maximise fundraising opportunities.
* Identify volunteer needs and in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator ensure volunteers are appropriately recruited, trained, supported and managed.
* Represent Beaumond House as an ambassador at events, meetings and presentations.
* Working collaboratively with other team members to share information and learning which benefits Beaumond House and its supporters.
* Support wider fundraising activity when required.


Other Duties

* Attend induction, mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
* Uphold the dignity, safety and confidentiality always applying to patients and all area of Beaumond House.
* To be self‑aware of the demands within the role and seek out support if required.
* To comply with all Beaumond House policies, including safeguarding, infection control and health and safety.
* Take reasonable care to prevent injury to yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions and report accidents or incidents promptly. To use protective clothing and equipment where provided, where applicable.
* Maintain accurate documentation and ensure safe use and storage of information.
* Seek support when needed and communicate sensitively with patients, carers, staff and supporters.
* Actively participate in and contribute to team meetings.
* Always behave in a professional manner, reflecting and maintaining Beaumond House values.
