Overview
You will provide high-level support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, SEMH, and ADHD. As a Senior SEN TA, you'll have responsibility for supporting and mentoring junior staff, contributing to planning interventions, and working closely with the SENCO and teaching team.
Responsibilities
* Leading support for pupils with complex needs both 1:1 and in small groups
* Mentoring and guiding junior teaching assistants
* Implementing and contributing to behaviour support plans
* Liaising with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to plan effective interventions
* Maintaining accurate records and reports on pupil progress and behaviour
* Supporting inclusion and promoting independence within the classroom
Qualifications
* Experience in leadership or leading aspects of SEN support; strong skills in behaviour management, communication, resilience, empathy, flexibility, and organisational abilities
* Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, ideally with some leadership experience
* Relevant qualifications (Level 3 or above preferred)
* Team Teach or similar behaviour management training is desirable
* Strong knowledge of SEN conditions and strategies, including Autism and SEMH
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Patience, resilience, and a positive approach to supporting children with additional needs
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
