Design Engineer – Civil Engineering / Piling

Are you an experienced Design Engineer looking for your next challenge in the heavy civil engineering sector? We're recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist contractor for a dynamic and driven Design Engineer to join their Design and Estimating team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong design and estimating skills who thrives in a client-facing, fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering innovative ground engineering solutions.
About the Role
Working closely with the Design Manager, you'll be involved in every stage of the tender process—from interpreting complex technical drawings to producing tailored design solutions and accurate estimates. Your work will directly support the delivery of key piling and retaining wall projects across a range of sectors.
Key Responsibilities

Create piling designs and retaining wall solutions
*
Prepare accurate estimates using AutoCAD, Wallap, Cads, MS Excel, and Word
*
Conduct site inspections and technical reviews in collaboration with Contracts Managers
*
Assess risk, identify project constraints, and determine optimal solutions
*
Maintain strong communication with clients throughout the tender process
*
Produce high-quality written submissions and design reports
*
Align proposals with the company's sales and commercial goals
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
* Minimum 1 year post grad experience in heavy civil engineering
* Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Wallap, Cads (or similar)
* Demonstrated experience in design for piling or geotechnical works
* Strong commercial awareness and analytical mindset
* Excellent communication and client-facing skills
* Understanding of CDM 2007 & 2015 Regulations
