SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Location: Stevenage Daily Rate: £90–£110 (depending on experience) Start Date: ASAP Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them reach their full potential? Would you thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment focused on meeting the individual needs of each pupil? A welcoming school in Stevenage is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. The school is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for students with a wide range of needs, ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. About the Role: This full-time, term-time position is ideal for someone who is empathetic, proactive, and committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children with Special Educational Needs. You will work closely with students and teachers to support individual learning plans, encourage positive behaviour, and help create an environment that is tailored to the needs of every child. Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN, including learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, physical disabilities, and other specific needs. Support students with their personalised learning plans, helping them stay on track with their progress and overcome any barriers to learning. Assist with the delivery of SEN-focused classroom activities and lesson adaptations, ensuring that all students can access the curriculum in a way that suits their needs. Encourage social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour management, particularly for students with social or emotional challenges. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure an effective and collaborative approach to supporting each child’s needs. Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and accessible classroom environment for all pupils. Keep accurate records of student progress and contribute to regular progress reviews and meetings. What We’re Looking For: Experience working with children with SEN (e.g., learning disabilities, autism, ADHD) is highly desirable. A calm, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting children with additional needs. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals. A genuine passion for working in SEN education and helping children achieve their personal best. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one. Ideally, a SEN-related qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN-specific training), though not essential. What the School Offers: A warm and inclusive school culture, with a focus on supporting children with additional needs to achieve their fullest potential. Ongoing training and professional development in the field of SEN, including opportunities to attend specialist courses and workshops. A supportive team of experienced staff, including a dedicated SENCO and leadership team who are committed to making a difference. On-site parking and good transport links, making the school easily accessible. A safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment, where both students and staff are valued and supported. Interested?
