As a Principal DevOps Engineer at JP Morgan Chase within the Wholesale Credit Risk Technology organization, you will draw upon your advanced knowledge to drive Engineering Excellence and improve the developer experience by driving adoption, removing toil and friction, and encouraging participation in initiatives across development practices. You will have the opportunity to drive adoption of tooling and standardization, and improve developer community engagement.
Job responsibilities
1. Drive Engineering Excellence by understanding and promoting core engineering best practices within the organization.
2. Drive adoption of tooling and standardization.
3. Identify friction points, facilitate their resolution through appropriate processes, and escalate blockers in a timely manner.
4. Implement and improve compliance, security, and control requirements for applications.
5. Collaborate across development teams, SRE, and central teams to influence positive change and streamline software delivery.
6. Implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
7. Enable faster, more reliable software delivery through automation and collaboration.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
1. Advanced knowledge of software applications and DevOps processes, with expertise in one or more technical disciplines.
2. Ability to understand system interrelations and use a broad set of tools to automate and improve reliability.
3. Strong development skills in Java and/or Python, SQL.
4. Experience translating research, analysis, and tests into business recommendations.
5. Ability to manage and be accountable for the work of multiple architects and designers.
6. Experience partnering across functions (e.g., Cybersecurity, Data) to develop efficient, developer-friendly systems.
7. Effective communication skills, capable of expressing complex ideas clearly and providing constructive feedback.
8. Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef), containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
9. Experience with Cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana), and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
