Specialty Doctor in Liaison Psychiatry

Thiswill be a new substantive role for an SAS doctor working 1.0 WTE in the AcuteHospital Liaison Service (AHLS), flexible working options are welcomed and willbe considered.
AHLScurrently provides a Core-24 Liaison Psychiatry service to Harrogate DistrictHospital. This services sits within the whole systems model in the Harrogate,Hambleton and Richmondshire area. This includes:
There are twomulti-Disciplinary Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) covering Harrogate,Knaresborough and Ripon, which includes nurses, occupational therapists,psychologists, social workers and community support workers with consultantpsychiatrist input.
An EarlyIntervention in Psychosis Service covering Harrogate, Hambleton & Richmond (HHRD)area with dedicated consultant time.
A 24 hour CrisisAssessment Service and seven days Home Based Treatment Service, which hasdedicated consultant time.
A CommunityPerinatal Service, led by 0.6 WTE consultant which covers the whole of the HHRDarea.
An ApprovedMental Health Professional rota to ensure the need for Mental Health Actassessments can be met during working hours and out of hours.
Good qualityservice user and independent sector led community support, housing andinclusion services.
Main duties of the job
To contribute to theprovision of a liaison psychiatry service for adults aged between 18 years andover at HDH including initial assessments and reviews for patients in theEmergency Department and inpatient wards.
To provide medicalexpertise within a multi-disciplinary team that will include the assessment,diagnosis and management of individuals referred to liaison psychiatry.
To contribute to andwork as part of these multidisciplinary teams, being available and accessibleand providing support and supervision when appropriate.
To attend morninghuddle and MDT meetings.
To attend team meetingsand leadership cell meetings.
To liaise with doctorsand other clinicians working in the general hospitals, general practitioners,colleagues from other disciplines and agencies, to ensure a comprehensiveapproach to patient care and treatment.
To maintain knowledgeand skills appropriate to working in the general hospital and to participate incontinuing professional development. TheTrust will support appropriate study leave expenses.
To be approved unders12 of the MHA 1983 at time of appointment or within 6 months.
To support andparticipate in clinical governance and audit.
To contribute toensuring the Trust achieves its performance targets agreed for the directorate.
To comply with allTrust policies and procedures.

Person Specification
Teaching & Training
* Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
* Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
* Participated in continuous professional development.
* Evidence of annual appraisal and commitment to appraisal and revalidation.
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in a core psychiatry training programme in UK or abroad
* Approved under S12 of MHA OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment.
* MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Clinical Knowledge & Skills
* Good knowledge of psychiatry.
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
* Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
Research, Audit & Quality Improvement
* Has actively participated in clinical audit.
* Shows commitment to quality through knowledge of quality improvement and lean thinking methodology.
* Participated in research and/or service improvement.
