Responsibilities and duties of the UPS Engineer role Reporting to the Operators Manager you will: Servicing, maintaining, and inspecting UPS systems across a wide power range (5kVA to 1MVA) to ensure reliable operation of critical power infrastructure Diagnosing faults and providing effective on-site repair solutions during both planned and reactive maintenance visits Carrying out remedial works including battery replacements, component changes, and minor to major system overhauls Acting as a first-response engineer for breakdowns, restoring systems to operational status in a timely and professional manner Supporting a mix of scheduled maintenance, corrective works, and reactive callouts, including participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota Completing clear and accurate service reports, documenting findings, actions taken, and recommendations Working closely with internal teams and customers to deliver a high standard of service and minimise system downtime Maintaining excellent health & safety, housekeeping, and professional standards while representing the business on customer sites Travelling primarily within an assigned region, with occasional wider UK travel as required Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: Proven experience as a UPS Maintenance / Service Engineer Strong fault-finding capability on electrical power systems Experience working on a range of UPS manufacturers and capacities Full UK driving licence Right to live and work in the UK Willingness to travel and stay away from home occasionally Personal skills The UPS Engineer role would suit someone who is: Self-motivated and able to work independently in a field-based role Trustworthy and comfortable operating with minimal supervision Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills Confident in written and verbal communication Highly organised with strong attention to detail Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-performance environment Presentable, professional, and committed to high personal standards A positive team player with resilience, adaptability, and a sense of humour Salary and benefits of the UPS Engineer role £36,000-£45,000 basic salary Paid overtime Company vehicle Company mobile phone Bonus scheme Health Cashplan benefit 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service) Enhanced maternity and paternity leave Ongoing technical training and development Long-term, stable employment within a growing UK business LI-WG1 INDPOW Astute People are acting as an employment agency in relation to this vacancy.
