We're looking for an experienced Senior Portfolio Delivery Manager to lead and manage a critical portfolio of transformation and technology initiatives for a major UK energy provider. This is a strategic role focused on shaping, guiding and delivering programmes that impact millions of customers - all while aligning with wider business and digital strategies.
About the Role
In this role, you will take full ownership of a complex, high-value portfolio - leading planning, governance, and execution across multiple workstreams. You'll ensure delivery stays on track to scope, time and budget, while safeguarding business outcomes and return on investment.
You will play a key role in shaping change direction, supporting long-term planning cycles, and ensuring delivery is aligned to both digital transformation and business unit strategies. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams across business and technology functions.
Key Responsibilities
Manage delivery of the portfolio and associated projects, ensuring defined business outcomes and benefits are realised
Own the overall portfolio plan, budget, scope, and prioritisation - proactively managing interdependencies and risks
Lead the development of business cases, plans, impact assessments and operating models across wide-ranging change initiatives
Establish and run portfolio governance, driving decisions and resolving obstacles with clear, accurate reporting
Support the quarterly, annual, and 3-year strategic planning cycle for change, identifying strategic dependencies
Ensure alignment of delivery with enterprise digital and business strategies
Champion benefit realisation and ensure return on investment is optimised throughout the portfolio lifecycle
Lead stakeholder engagement and change management activity to ensure smooth transition and adoption of change
Manage relationships with internal delivery teams and third-party suppliers to ensure delivery to quality standards
Build and lead high-performing, cross-functional teams, motivating and coaching others to deliver successful outcomes
Conduct structured quality assurance and health check reviews across the portfolio as needed
What We're Looking For
Extensive experience leading portfolios or large-scale programmes across business and IT
Proven ability to manage complex budgets, governance, and stakeholder landscapes
Strong understanding of change delivery methodologies (agile, waterfall, hybrid)
Demonstrated experience working in or with regulated, customer-centric industries
Outstanding leadership, planning, and communication skills
Ability to lead through complexity and ambiguity, aligning delivery to strategic goals
