Job Title: Patient Advisor / Medical Receptionist
We are looking for an enthusiastic Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and established team for 21.5 hours a week. The candidate must be able to travel between both sites.
Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, in person or via the telephone. Receive, assist and direct patients to access the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the smooth running of the practice, including secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other team members. Facilitate effective communication between patients, the primary health care team, secondary care and other related healthcare agencies.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and directing callers to the appropriate healthcare professional
* Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
* Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
* Computer data entry, data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in line with practice procedures
* Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and related healthcare agencies and providers
* Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
* Keeping the reception area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions
* Assisting the practice manager with their workload as required
* Keeping the practice appointments system maintained and monitored
* Clearing and restocking consulting rooms as required
* Processing, ordering and monitoring stationery and other supplies
* Dealing with clinical waste and undertaking related health and safety duties

Person Specification
Essential:
* Experience in Primary Care (General Practice)
* Experience with SystmOne and EMIS systems
