Multi Skilled Line Engineer Location: Middlewich, Cheshire Hours: 4 on 4 off – Days (06:00–18:00) & Nights (18:00–06:00) Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £52,000 Benefits: Company pension, paid holidays, sick pay scheme, and more About the Role: We’re looking for a Multi Skilled Line Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Middlewich site. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving our 24/7 production operation — ensuring our manufacturing lines run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced FMCG environment, supporting both engineering reliability and operational excellence across the site. Key Responsibilities: * Provide proactive maintenance and rapid response to production line breakdowns * Carry out planned and preventative maintenance tasks in line with site PPM schedules * Support the operations team to meet production targets and minimise downtime * Ensure all engineering work is completed safely and meets GMP standards * Record maintenance activities using the site’s CMMS system (Shire) * Assist in machinery installations, decommissioning, and performance improvements * Provide first-line maintenance on auxiliary equipment (boilers, air conditioning, etc.) * Liaise with contractors and issue permits where required (if trained) * Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work environment at all times * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency * Support production teams during breaks or absences as part of lean operations Key Skills & Attributes: * Time-served multi-skilled engineer (electrical or mechanical bias) * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability * Experienced with automation and FMCG production equipment * Competent with Microsoft Office and CMMS systems * Excellent communication and organisational skills * Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team * Logical thinker with a continuous improvement mindset * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment Qualifications & Experience: Essential: * GCSEs (Grade C or above) in Maths and English * Time-served Engineering Apprenticeship * NVQ Level 3 / ONC / BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering * Strong Health & Safety awareness * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Desirable: * 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification * Experience in an FMCG or regulated manufacturing environment Working Hours & Package: * 4 on 4 off continental shift pattern: Days: 06:00–18:00, Nights: 18:00–06:00 * 42-hour average working week * Competitive salary with clear progression post-probation * Excellent benefits package including pension, holidays, and sick pay Ready to take on a key role in keeping a high-performing production line running smoothly?
