Overview
Join to apply for the Volunteer Reader role at Cue and Review Recording Service.
Read from our studios or from home, with flexible scheduling including once a week, once a month, or even daily if you wish. We need readers to cover the Herald Scotland, The National, and Glasgow Evening Times websites for our daily service, and the print edition of the Kirkintilloch Herald for the weekly edition of our most local newspaper. Most readers choose to read from home at a time that suits them after coordinating with our Studio Coordinator.
Responsibilities
* Read content from specified newspapers/websites for the daily service (Herald Scotland, The National, Glasgow Evening Times).
* Read from the print edition of the Kirkintilloch Herald for the weekly edition.
* Record readings from home or at the studio and coordinate with the Studio Coordinator to schedule reads.
Requirements
* Come to our studios - Office (if preferred for recording).
* We accommodate readers who prefer to come to our recording studios.
* We provide training and ongoing support for those interested in being a Producer or Sound Technician.
* We use Myriad and Audacity software to record readers.
* Ensure a comfortable and quiet environment for recording; read at a measured pace rather than rushing.
Tips
* Take your time – reading into a microphone should not be hurried.
* If you make a mistake, indicate where it happened by clicking your fingers; this spike can be edited out later and you can continue recording.
* Frequency of recording is flexible (as little as once a month; some readers record weekly).
