Job Title: Environment Lead
Location:. Durrington/ Falmer- Hybrid- 3 office remaining work from home- Occasional travel to site will be required, therefore it is essential for you to have a driving licence
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

To achieved our plans, we are currently recruiting for an Environment Lead to be part of our Operational Performance and Improvement function as a senior subject matter expert & will be responsible to act as a representative for Southern Water to communicate with Environment Agency on behalf of our Waste Water function for full pollution incident updates. You will be working towards our agreed service level agreements in managing pollution database assurance and improvement, tracking Environment Agency audit response & timely updates on progress with long term repeat issues. You will be responsible for the Environment Centre of Excellence within Operations, ensuring the Environment rota members & pollution first responders are trained with excellent training materials accessible viaSharePoint. You will also be managing the continuous improvement of all aspects of Environment Agency communications and pollution incident responses.
Your key accountabilities will also include:
•Provision of full & complete pollution incident updates to the EA within the timescales agreed with the regulator
•Assurance of pollution database & feedback / improvement / training for PCLs
•Driving & contributing to end to end pollution / flooding process review for network escape replacement system planned for AMP8
•Creating action plans for WW assets with repeating environmental impact to reduce risk of repeat pollutions
•Tracking and providing timely updates to the EA on progress with long term repeat pollution / compliance action plans
•Managing continuous improvement of database / data storage relating to pollution incidents and associated queries.
This is an exciting time to join the team as you will be developing a Centre of Excellence for the Environment within Operations, ensuring the Environment rota members & pollution first responders are trained & have access to training materials & business processes are accessible via SharePoint. This will include the development & continuous improvement of an Environment Advisor training manual.

It will be ideal for you to have a strong background within environmental Wastewater regulation and good working knowledge of Environment Agency on how they regulate, approving permits and understand the effects of Waste Water pollution to the environment. A degree in environmental science will be highly advantageous however we welcome applicants with strong technical knowledge.
