At GSK, we envision a world where advanced applications of machine learning and AI enable us to develop novel therapies for existing diseases and respond swiftly to emerging or changing diseases with personalized drugs, improving outcomes at lower costs with fewer side effects. This ambitious vision requires developing cutting-edge products and solutions in machine learning and AI. If this excites you, we'd love to chat.
The AI/ML Biomedical AI Team applies machine learning and AI methods to questions at the start and end of drug development. Our viral evolution group focuses on applying these techniques to support the development of treatments and preventatives for viral diseases like Influenza, RSV, and COVID-19. We aim to realize the potential of platforms like mRNA vaccines, oligonucleotides, and monoclonal antibodies against infectious diseases. We model viral evolution using large datasets and emerging AI/ML techniques.
We are seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to help us realize this vision. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record in developing state-of-the-art deep learning models for challenging real-world scientific problems. You should be an outstanding scientist with deep knowledge of modern machine learning. You should be able to translate vaguely defined biological or drug discovery challenges into well-defined machine learning problems. You will independently execute and deliver full AI/ML solutions—from sourcing training data, designing and implementing models, testing, benchmarking, and research for performance improvement, to deploying stable, tested, and efficient code and services in an agile environment. You will be part of a team focused on delivering well-vetted tools with clearly defined limitations.
The AI/ML team values ownership, accountability, continuous development, and collaboration. We hire for the long term and are committed to making this a great place to work. Our leaders are dedicated to your career growth and development from day one.
Why you?

* Knowledge of standard deep learning algorithms and architectures.
* Familiarity with current deep learning literature and the mathematics of machine learning.
* Understanding of machine learning best practices, scalable training and deployment, model evaluation, and introspection.
* Experience with frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or others.
* Strong software engineering skills in Python and/or C++.
* Experience with devops tools: version control, CI/CD, containerization, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
* PhD in Machine Learning.
* Knowledge in disease biology, molecular biology, and virology.
* Experience with biological data (genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics).
* Peer-reviewed publications in major AI conferences.
* Experience in deploying commercial AI/ML software.
* Contributions to open-source projects.
* Focus on early commits, metrics-driven development, and high-quality production code.
