Join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Hospital as an Operational Estates Officer (Engineering) and play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of our extensive estate infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Manage the site-wide steam distribution and condensate systems, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
* Oversee the inspection and maintenance of pressure vessels in accordance with the Pressure Systems Regulations.
* Manage all air conditioning plant and systems across the estate.
* Ensure Legionella control measures are implemented and compliant with HTMs and HSE L8 guidance.
* Act as an Authorised Person for Medical Gases and oversee associated safety procedures.
* Coordinate major infrastructure shutdowns in collaboration with affected departments and the permit‑to‑work systems.
* Manage external contractors for maintenance and project works, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
Qualifications
* Qualified to at least HNC level or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
* Proven experience in maintaining mechanical building services.
* Qualified as an Authorised Person (Medical Gases).
* Previous experience managing steam‑raising plant and leading teams.
* Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, health and safety legislation, and Legionella control.
* Skilled in contract management, budgeting, and report writing.
* Excellent communication, planning, and decision‑making skills, with computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
Salary: £25.26 to £28.90 per hour, dependent on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
