General Engineering Supervisor (Boeing Defence UK)
Overview
The General Engineering Supervisor will operate within Boeing Defence UK’s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation, supporting major UK programmes such as Apache, Chinook, C‑17, P‑8A and E‑7 Wedgetail. The role is responsible for ensuring process adherence, accurate record‑keeping, and regulatory compliance while managing a team under Boeing’s Part 145 approval.
Responsibilities
* Deliver off‑wing support for aircraft maintenance under Boeing’s own MAA MRP Part 145 approval or the MOD customer’s approval.
* Act as a flexible, proactive team member within Boeing Vertical Lift, Apache MRO team.
* Provide supervision to the General Engineering Bay team at Wattisham, ensuring adherence to Part 145.
* Mitigate immediate risks including stop‑work decisions and raise emerging risks, issues and shortfalls promptly.
* Contribute to continuous improvement workshops and projects.
* Exercise 100% oversight of work performed by Boeing Apprentices or Trainees, including apprenticeship / trainee mentoring.
* Advise, guide and mentor peers and others as appropriate to the role.
* Assist in ensuring aircraft and components are delivered to customers on time.
* Maintain a positive open and honest reporting culture.
Qualifications
* Fluent written and spoken English.
* Recognised trade apprenticeship or trade training equivalent.
* Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance and aviation processes – Human Factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety & COSHH.
* Experience in commercial or defence aircraft maintenance is desirable.
* Experience with sheet‑metal and/or structural repairs.
* Experience using milling equipment and lathe is advantageous.
* Proficient computer skills; use of Microsoft Office suite.
* Demonstrated equity, diversity and inclusion behaviours.
* Capable of understanding and interpreting technical documents, drawings and associated publications.
* Working knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) Part 145, aviation Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management System (SMS).
* Basic understanding of the application of these requirements within your area of responsibility, accountability and authority (RAA).
Work Authorization
This is a locally hired position in the United Kingdom. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the UK. Boeing will not sponsor immigration or work permits.
Security Clearance
UK Security Clearance (SC) is required; UK residency is a prerequisite. All information will be checked and verified.
