The Opportunity
The Database Administrator is responsible for the integrity, and security of clients and proof of concept databases. The primary focus will be ensuring the availability and reliability of database systems, optimizing database performance, and implementing and maintaining data security measures. You will also be required to assist with bids and new business.
The role will involve:
13. Installing, configuring, and maintaining database software and related tools, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
14. Designing, implementing, and maintaining database schemas, tables, indexes, and views to support application requirements and business processes.
15. Monitoring database performance and troubleshoot performance issues, including database tuning and optimizing. Providing data and trend analysis for KPIs and SLAs.
16. Implementing and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and available of data.
17. Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations in co-ordination with application owners and IT Infrastructure teams.
18. Staying ahead of product lifecycle, patching requirements, and versions, providing sufficient time to deploy such in advance of end-of-life deadlines.
About You
To be successful as the Database Administrator you will be someone who has experience in a Technical Support and design role, and some experience providing high level support in a similar field. You will have an excellent understanding of the main process and techniques surrounding technical delivery (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, XP)
You will also have/be:
19. Experience of building Cloud based database services.
20. Experience of delivering to Government organisations through a Managed Service contract
21. Ability to analyse problems, determine appropriate solutions.
22. Microsoft Certified database administrator
23. Cosmos DB Admin/My SQL, SQL, DB
24. ITIL Service Management Training
25. SCRUM (or other Agile Methodology Training)
26. Effective communication with all members of the team regardless of hierarchy
