Overview

We're redefining construction through digital transformation. As an Apprentice MEP Digital Engineer, you'll support 3D modelling, BIM, automation, digital twins, AR/VR, and DfMA to optimise project design and delivery. You'll help create coordinated models, assess design quality, and use technology to improve installation.


Key Responsibilities

* Support the production of fully coordinated 3D design, construction, and as‑built models.
* Interrogate design consultant’s models to assess quality and compliance with current standards.
* Assist the project team by using automation and technology to understand the MEP installation.
* Create accurate fabrication and manufacturing models and drawings for use with our DfMA facilities.
* Utilise AR/VR and 3D scanning to compare proposals to final installations.
* Enable the MEP Digital Engineering team to fully engineer projects before site work, ensuring optimised engineered solutions, technical excellence, maximised offsite product use, reduced waste, and enhanced delivery efficiency.
* Interpret and compare performance information to choose compliant materials, components and parts.
* Select and use technical literature and other sources of information and data.
* Produce design and technical drawings, designs and models using analytical and computer‑based software packages.
* Produce technical design solutions.
* Comply with industry standards, CDM, statutory regulations, legislation, policies, and codes of practice.
* Comply with health, safety and welfare regulations, standards and guidance.
* Complete risk assessments to identify, evaluate and mitigate risk.
* Apply principles of sustainable development and assess impact.
* Apply ethical and data security principles to design projects.
* Prepare written design reports.
* Operate and maintain a Common Data Environment (CDE), ensuring data integrity and adherence to protocols.
* Validate, manage, disseminate and store information throughout all stages of a project or asset.
* Identify design defects, solve problems, and advise compliant outcomes; raise issues or concerns when necessary.
* Apply quality assurance techniques.
* Use computer‑based software systems and packages to manage construction projects (e.g., BIM tools, data analytics and databases).
* Conduct site inspections of designs and report findings.
* Comply with sustainability regulations, standards and guidance, including waste design‑out.
* Optimise energy use through efficient building fabric, passive and active design solutions, low‑energy lighting, building controls and energy performance.
* Optimise site potential and building space.
* Communicate with internal and external stakeholders using sector‑specific terminology.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
* Apply project management techniques – budgeting, estimating, cost control, cost forecasting and investment appraisal.
* Extract relevant information from drawings, specifications and work instructions, including BIM and other task‑specific modelling software.
