Legal Team Leader – Contentious Permanent | Package up to £55,819 | Hybrid working North West Leicestershire District Council is seeking a confident litigator who’s ready to step up and lead. You’ll head up a small, talented team, take on a broad contentious caseload, and play a key role in shaping how our Legal Services function develops. The Role This is a hands-on leadership position where no two days will feel the same. You’ll: Supervise and mentor two junior colleagues Manage your own caseload of civil litigation, housing litigation and licensing matters Represent the Council in court (around twice a month) Collaborate with fellow Team Leaders to improve practice and processes It’s a role for someone who enjoys variety, is happy to “figure things out,” and gets satisfaction from helping others grow. About You We’re looking for a solicitor, barrister, FILEX or equivalent with: At least 2–3 years’ PQE in civil or housing litigation The confidence to handle new challenges with a proactive, problem-solving mindset An interest in mentoring others and developing leadership skills You don’t need prior management experience—this is a genuine development opportunity for someone who’s ready to step into leadership.
