Based at our client's Head Office reporting to the Payroll Manager, this person will join a payroll team of 3 and a wider finance team of 19.
The role suits someone with a strong understanding of payroll (minimum 2 years experience) and granular attention to detail. This is a friendly working environment, and as part of a small team, you will provide a high-quality, accurate, and timely payroll service to the business.
Main responsibilities:
* Completing payroll for our European division, primarily, but also involved with UK and Scotland payroll (approx. 2,500 employees)
* Liaising with up to 10 bureaus across Europe on a monthly basis and coordinating these third parties along with the operations teams in each country within our month-end timeline
* Entering and importing variable overtime and casual hours
* Processing new starters and leavers onto the payroll system or liaising with the payroll bureau for European payrolls
* Processing amendments to contracts
* Calculating back pay
* Experience in calculating sick pay manually, considering multiple policies
* Maternity and paternity calculations
* Calculating gross to net manually, not relying solely on the system
* Assisting with payroll reporting in line with HR/Payroll and business requirements, producing payslips, P45s, statutory year-end returns, and P60s
* Assisting or preparing and sending monthly payroll reports for payroll sign-off
* Preparing BACS authorization forms
* Supporting the Payroll Team with additional payroll and pension administration requirements
* Running payroll from start to finish, including month-end processes
* Monitoring generic email accounts daily, logging, and resolving payroll queries within the specified timeframe
* Supporting the Payroll Manager in process and system improvements
* Training operations on payroll procedures and best practices

Qualifications and Experience:
* At least 2 years payroll experience handling similar volumes
* Experience working with overseas payroll bureaus is desirable but not essential
