Job summary
We are looking for a full-time Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team, passionate about enhancing the patient's surgical journey and making a difference.
A medical and surgical background is desirable to support streamlined nurse-led pre-surgery admission, post-operative nursing care, and nurse-led discharge.
The environment is fast-paced with a high patient turnaround.
A willingness to learn is essential, as support in in-patient and high dependency areas may be required.
Venipuncture, Cannulation, and ECG recording skills are desirable; training will be provided.
Shadowing opportunities and multidisciplinary team working alongside Pre-Op Assessment, Theatres, Theatre Recovery, Endoscopy, and Intensive Care are readily available.
Main duties of the job
1. Assist the registered nurse in delivering direct and indirect patient care.
2. Report any concerns regarding cleanliness, hazards, and patient safety to the registered nurse.
3. Keep the registered nurse updated on patients' condition and progress.
4. Ensure equipment is clean and functioning properly.
5. Maintain a clean and tidy environment.
6. Participate in the induction of new staff.
7. Minimize hazards and report any hazards to the line manager.
8. Adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the work area.
9. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
10. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
11. Promote awareness of child and adult protection issues, referring to relevant policies and attending training.
