We are a family run End of Life Vehicle Centre and supplier of used car parts and have been servicing Liverpool and the North West for almost 40 years. We are currently recruiting an experienced tyre fitter to operate safely within our organisation.
At Merton Car Dismantlers we provide a fast and friendly service our customers and provide excellent quality used car parts for their vehicle at a very competitive price. We also provide a free scrap car collection service to the people of Liverpool and the surrounding areas. We stock part worn tyres, steel wheels and alloys for a wide range of makes and models. A fitting service and puncture repair is also available.
Based on one of the main roads into Liverpool and the Docks, our motor recycling and dismantling scrap yard is well located on Hawthorne Road, Bootle.
The role – Tyre Fitter/tyre stock control
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced tyre fitter with an array of tyre stock and compatibility knowledge to excel at Merton Car Dismantlers. This role would suit candidates with experience of fitting tyres at a tyre shop and or garage with a keen interest in Motor Vehicles of all makes and models. This role involves a confident individual happy to work alone or in a small team.
The ideal candidate will:
· Have previous experience in fitting tyres with safe use of machinery (required min 3 years)
· Have previous experience in puncture repair (required min 3 years)
· Display an excellent understanding of tyre manufactures, sizes and compatibility across vehicle makes and models
· Be inquisitive and keen to develop their knowledge of cars, models, tyre compatibility across various manufacturers and the 'family's' that car parts belong to or share
· Be keen to develop their knowledge in all elements of the tyre department within the business
· Be confident in the use of stock management software, selling platforms ie ebay store and use of PC / tablets
· Be able to multitask, prioritise and respond to different demands at any one time
· Be well organised and demonstrate good memory skills relating the on site stock
· Have excellent time management skills, punctual and strong attendance record
· Be a clear communicator with good listening skills
· Be trustworthy, reliable and self-motivated
· Be friendly with a positive attitude, enthusiastic and 'can-do' attitude to work
· English and Maths GCSE
The role will involve…
· Listening to our in-house walkie talkie system to what the customers needs are and responding pro actively to the front of house receptionists questions to support the delivery of the best service and outcome for the customer
· Be confident in pricing available stock and relaying correct information to reception/front of house
· Ensuring that customers tyres repairs or changes are carried out in the safest manner
· Understand legal requirements of tyre treads and apply this to all stock
· Photographing, listing and pricing stock with the relevant detailed descriptions on our online selling platforms during quieter periods of the day.
· Correct and timely packaging of sold items ready for courier collection
· Monitor and control on shelf and online tyre stock
· Demonstrate organisational skills by ensuring stock is accurately labelled and not left on the floor ensuring you adhere to the stock management system at all times
· Proactively dealing with any slip/trip hazards on the yard and promoting a safety culture by demonstrating a 'One Team' attitude and not waiting for someone else to do so
· You will be responsible to maintain high levels of order and cleanliness in your own work area and adhere to the wearing of the required PPE at all times
· Report any Health and Safety issues to senior management team or supervisors
· Actively take part in compulsory training and display willingness to engage in company projects and initiatives
· Willingly take instruction from senior management or supervisors when being asked to offer support in a different work area or team to move the business forward.
· Outdoor working in all weather is required

Hours: hours per week
Schedule:
* Day shift
* Monday to Friday: 8 hour shift
* Saturday: 7 hour shift (2 Saturdays required in every 4)
