APPOINTMENT OF A LEARNING & SUPPORT ASSISTANT 32.5 HOURS PER WEEK, TERM TIME ONLY (8.45-3.45PM MON-FRI INC) SALARY: £27,122 - £27,528 (PRO RATA) Chadsgrove School is a day special school for pupils whose special educational needs arise from their physical disabilities and/or complex medical needs. In addition, a significant number have profound and multiple learning difficulties, whilst others have sensory impairments and/or communication difficulties. At present there are 128 pupils on role within the 2-19 age range. The Learning and Support Assistant role is varied but consist of supporting teaching activities in the classroom and assisting with the changing and personal care requirements of some of the pupils. Candidates need to be physically fit and capable of working co-operatively within a multi-disciplinary team. It is essential that candidates are adaptable with a good sense of humour and have an ability to empathise and work positively with the pupils’ individual needs. Previous experience of working with physically disabled pupils would be an advantage but it is not essential, as training will be given. The post will involve working in class situations with other teaching assistants/learning and support assistants. Some of the work will concentrate on supporting individual pupils in those classes to enable them to access the school curriculum fully.
