Tobacco Dependency Advisor

We are seeking a well‑organised, dedicated, and committed Tobacco Dependency Advisor based at Ipswich Hospital, required to travel to other sites to meet business requirements. The successful candidate will deliver and promote the Tobacco Treatment Services at ESNEFT hospital sites, working collaboratively with clinical staff and partners, putting patients at the heart of the Service. This role involves demanding clinical and public face‑to‑face interactions with patients and visitors, many with complex needs. The candidate should be able to work independently for the major part of the time, supported by the Tobacco Treatment Operational Coordinator and the wider Health Inequalities Team as required. The role is a 5‑day week with flexibility to work on Saturdays or Sundays to enable a 6‑day‑a‑week service. Interviews will be held on Tuesday, 9th June at Ipswich. Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only; previous applicants need not re‑apply.
Main duties of the job
* Educate and train staff to deliver Very Brief Advice (VBA)
* Deliver the Tobacco Treatment Services at ESNEFT Hospital sites
* Promote the service throughout the hospital, delivering and taking part in promotional events both in the hospital and at community outreach days
* Issue pharmaceutical products to patients, staff and visitors as appropriate and in accordance with ESNEFT Tobacco Treatment Service Protocols
* Access and input information into databases to support monitoring of the service Key Performance Indicators
* Refer patients to stop‑smoking services / community pathways
* Work as part of a team
* Maintain flexibility to work across a 6‑day week

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience delivering smoking cessation treatment within a hospital environment
* Experience managing process improvement initiatives
* Experience working in a healthcare environment
* Experience accessing and utilising IT systems
* Experience delivering training to clinical staff
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications as appropriate for the role.
Knowledge
* Demonstrable knowledge of process improvement methods and approaches
* Knowledge of health service management
* Proficient use of IT systems such as Word, Excel, Outlook
* Understanding of the NHS and current agenda
* Demonstrable knowledge of service improvements, change management, and project management
