Introduction:
An experienced PA is required to support a family caring for a gentleman (early stroke victim). Support will include providing a sitting service within the family home, allowing the family time out from caregiving, and enabling the gentleman to socialise and pursue hobbies independently. Activities include mountain biking, fishing, attending a shooting club, and assisting with his allotment.
Punctuality and a no-nonsense approach are essential. The gentleman may have limited filter in conversation, can be blunt and opinionated. Excellent communication skills are required to distract and steer conversations positively if needed. Full training will be provided for managing seizures or unresponsiveness, which are possible due to his condition.
Main Duties:
1. Ensure the gentleman’s personal safety at all times.
2. Be aware of and follow protocols during seizures or unresponsiveness.
3. Provide support, encouragement, and promote independence.
4. Support within the home, enabling family time out.
5. Ensure hydration during working hours.
6. Encourage engagement in activities he enjoys.
7. Support socialisation, including trips to local activities and places of interest.
8. Assist with other activities of interest as needed.
9. Perform any other reasonable requests from the employer.

Additional Information:
This vacancy is advertised on behalf of an individual employer. You will be employed by the individual, not Ceredigion County Council. To apply, complete the application form. Wages are paid in arrears every 4 weeks upon providing a valid NI number. You must be eligible to work in the UK; document checks will be conducted. You will receive statutory leave and other entitlements, detailed in your employment contract. Mandatory training will be provided at no cost, and attendance is compulsory.
Note: This is a direct payment role, and you will be an employee of the employer, not Ceredigion County Council.
