Job Summary
We are delighted to offer a unique opportunity for a Salaried General Practitioner to join a small, friendly team at Yorkleigh Surgery in Cheltenham. As part of the new National General Practice Pilot (NGPP) you will help shape the future of General Practice. You will work closely with the PCN colleagues, deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred primary care, and support the practice in meeting QOF, enhanced services and contractual requirements.
Main Duties
The salaried GP will provide high quality, patient‑centred primary care as part of the practice’s clinical team. Responsibilities include: consulting with patients for acute, chronic and preventive needs, managing undifferentiated presentations, ensuring safe follow‑up and continuity of care, face‑to‑face and remote consultations, ordering and interpreting investigations, completing medication reviews, prescribing within governance policies, and undertaking home visits when required. Accurate clinical records are maintained and safeguarding procedures are followed.
Job Responsibilities

* Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.

* Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload, including home visits, extended hours cover, review and processing of test results, and patient specific medical reports.

* Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
* Accept delegated responsibility for specific areas (or the QOF).

About the Practice
Yorkleigh Surgery serves about 8,050 patients and works closely with local community partners, including nursing and residential homes, pharmacies, the District Nursing Team, and other healthcare professionals. The practice is part of Central PCN, awarded PCN of the Year at the 2024 General Practice awards. The team includes two salaried GPs, an ANP, two practice nurses, an HCA, a phlebotomist, and extended staff such as pharmacists, social prescribers and first contact practitioners. The practice fosters teamwork with bi‑monthly socials, gift events, and a large post‑Christmas celebration.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MRCGP (Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners) or equivalent qualification.
* GMC full registration with a licence to practise.
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice, or equivalent recognised training.
* Inclusion on the NHS GP Performers List (or eligibility for inclusion).
* Legal right to work in the UK.
Experience
* Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
* Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
* Experience of practice‑based, evidence‑based approach to medicine including patient evaluation and triage procedures.
* Experience working with Integrated Care Boards / Services (formerly CCGs) or other stakeholders.
* Knowledge of and delivery of the QOF.
* Understanding of current guidelines in a GP practice.
* Experience of developing and completing audits, analysing results or data.
* Experience of implementing change and improvement in primary care.
* Understanding of clinical governance and quality issues.
* Experience of managing incident investigations and complaints.
* Problem‑solving and solution‑focused approach.
* Good clinical skills and awareness of patient sensitivity.
* Innovative and keen to explore new ways of delivery.
