Location: Papworth, Cambridgeshire
Viridian Solar is a market leader of integrated solar and fire safety device. Viridian Solar is looking for someone to join the R&D team, contributing to product improvement, development and testing.
Responsibilities
· Supporting product development from prototype building, type approval to production functional testing.
· Supporting existing products through problem solving and continual product improvement, including QC pre-production batches and running diagnostic tests.
· Participating in testing and certifications for new and existing products.
· Maintaining the R&D facilities and equipment
Tasks
Product Development and Testing
· Understanding engineering requirements and product technical specifications
· Building and testing prototypes
· Obtaining type approval for domestic and international markets
· Preparing for and carrying out product testing in the UK or overseas
· Supporting field trial or early installations of new products
· Accessing drawings in 3D CAD models
Product Improvement and Testing
· Troubleshooting and problem-solving for existing products
· Maintaining and improving existing products via product testing
· Visiting sites for problematic installations in the UK or overseas
· Updating technical design files
· Revising certification requirements
· Collaboration with manufacturing partners
Skills
· Experience in engineering design and testing (mechanical and electrical)
· Vocational qualification in relevant subjects is preferable.
· Solid understanding of product development and testing process, with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
· Proven practical experience in building and testing prototypes/products, including designing and making test rigs. Ability to use workshop tools is essential.
· Experience in electrical testing will be desirable
· Familiarity with product certification and type approval
· Demonstrable IT skills including Excel Spreadsheet
· Accurately record test results and other data, prepare reports, and communicate findings to other team members
