Overview

Equans are looking for a Static Multiskilled Mechanical Engineer on behalf of our HMCTS contract in Bradford. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. A competitive salary and benefits package is on offer.

Responsibilities

* Carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering plant, ensuring activities are completed safely and in a timely manner in accordance with contracted output specifications and EQUANS processes. Includes Legionella control and monitoring; basic plumbing skills are also part of the role.
* Ensure routine PPM is carried out on mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site task schedules and CAFM.
* Complete reactive tasks, identify areas for improvement, and ensure faults and defects are remedied promptly to keep plant in serviceable order.
* Provide spares planning, parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial works.
* Complete relevant paperwork/CAFM for PPM, reactive and breakdown works and pass to the contract administrator without delay.
* Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with EQUANS staff, subcontractors and client representatives.
* Maintain a Safe and Healthy working environment, including wearing PPE and presenting a professional image to clients.
* Keep up-to-date plant logs and maintain clean and tidy plant rooms under EQUANS responsibility.
* Arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice; be flexible in working patterns and undertake lone working where required after training.
* Complete assigned tasks and remain aware of contractual KPIs/SLA0;s; operate the CAFM system (e.g., Maximo) and ensure PPM and reactive tickets are closed with accurate data.
* Operate a Permit to Work system in line with EQUANS Technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements (or approved client system).
* Undertake other tasks as directed by the account management team and provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business continuity.


Client / Customer

* Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests.
* Coordinate quotations with the contract manager and produce information for quotations.


Helpdesk - PPM

* Support the Helpdesk as required for reporting or updating planned and reactive maintenance.
* Be available for out-of-hours call-out support for the contract.


Compliance

* Gain Technical Appointments as required (e.g., LVCP/LVAP/Mechanical/Pressure CP) and produce Condition / Dilapidation Reports as required.
* Inform supervisor immediately if dangerous circumstances occur.


SHEQ

* Comply with information requests from the SHEQ manager and work to the company health and safety policy.
* Ensure PPE is safe to use and that accidents/near misses are reported promptly.
* Ensure test equipment is calibrated and follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works.


Impact

* Carry out Mechanical Engineering tasks and support adherence to company quality standards (specification, materials/workmanship schedules, and care of tools).
* Maintain neat work areas and ensure company van and site documentation are managed accurately and timely.
* Coordinate materials and work with others to complete tasks to high standards and provide courteous service to the public.
* Manage planned and reactive tasks adherence and oversee subcontractors in line with H&S legislation.


Complexity

* Fault finding, minor repairs and installations alongside general maintenance.
* Coordinate specialist subcontractor visits, ensure quality of work, and communicate findings to management.
* Support engineers and operatives in the region and join the broader team for FM maintenance activities when required.
* Prepare company reports, worksheets and SLAs; ensure work complies with safety policies and site paperwork; perform risk assessments for each site.
* Demonstrate excellent communication, be able to work unsupervised, and handle statutory paperwork and documentation.
* Helpdesk support is provided via smartphone technology with access to tools and equipment.


Qualifications or Required Experience

* Desired circa 5 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a FM environment.
* City and Guilds - Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with all levels of staff.
* Proactive in achieving high standards of operation; good IT and report-writing skills.
* Ability to work under pressure while delivering services within given time constraints; strong initiative and drive for continuous improvement.
* Advanced communication skills with a strong understanding of customer needs and expectations.
* Ability to understand and act on verbal and written instructions; proactive, diligent, and willing to participate in internal training.
* Integrity, honesty and punctuality; current and valid full UK driving license.
