The Pharmacy Department provides a comprehensive pharmacy service across the Trust and to several external community units. It is a large, very busy department with over 180 members of staff including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Science Manufacturing Technicians and Admin staff.
Electronic prescribing and medicines administration has been implemented across all inpatient wards, the Emergency Department and Outpatients.
Functions of the Pharmacy Department include the ordering, receipt, and supply of medicines to wards and departments throughout the Trust/external units.
Main Duties of the Job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic pharmacist with well-developed interpersonal skills to join our medical admissions pharmacy team. The team consists of highly-specialist and specialist pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy assistants and provides an enhanced 7-day service to our ED and medical admissions wards.
The post holder will work alongside the lead pharmacists to assist in developing the pharmacy service to the ED and Acute Medical Units, working closely with the MDTs and through utilisation of independent prescribing (upon qualification) to optimise use of medicines in patients admitted acutely.
This role is full time, we provide a 7-day service, working shifts (8:00am to 7:15pm) including weekends (maximum 1 in 4) and bank holidays.

Job Description
The purpose of the post is to assist in the delivery and development of a high quality extended hours clinical pharmacy service to the Emergency Department and the medical admission units.
This a trained practitioner post and the post holder will be working on their own initiative for a significant period of time within guidelines and directions from the Highly Specialist Pharmacist.

Qualifications
Essential: Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist
Desirable: Independent Prescriber, Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
