This role involves supporting the procurement of technical components, materials, and services across both tactical and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in purchasing or procurement within a technical manufacturing setting and a strong desire to advance their career.
Role responsibilities of the Technical Buyer include:
* Manage both operational procurement activities and strategic sourcing initiatives, including supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management.
* Support the procurement of technical components by interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements to ensure alignment with project needs.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality, and planning teams to meet business and operational objectives.
* Exercise independent judgment in supplier selection, pricing negotiations, and managing supply chain risks, escalating issues as necessary.
* Maintain accurate procurement data in SAP, monitor KPIs such as OTIF and cost savings, and support process improvements within the P2P process.
* Ensure procurement activities adhere to financial policies, contribute to cost reductions, and support budget and working capital management.
Person Specification of the Technical Buyer:
* Procurement experience within a technical manufacturing or engineering background.
* Strong understanding of technical components, engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
* Previous experience using ERP or MRP software.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
