CALA Homes (West) Ltd are looking to recruit a Commercial Manager to join their Commercial team. Reporting to the Commercial Director, y ou will be responsible for leadership for the buying and surveying team on a day to day basis, supporting and managing performance. You will be responsible for guidance to the team in producing accurate and realistic estimates, budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures. Furthermore, you will monitor site performance against original plans, budgets and financial targets. You will collate cost reports and key updates for deadlines which will require you to communicate regularly with other disciplines such as Sales, Land, Construction, Technical Architects as required. Key Responsibilities & Duties Provide leadership for the team on a day to day basis, motivating, supporting and managing performance Undertake annual Performance Development Reviews, managing both formal and informal training for the team Maintain an up to date knowledge of site performance Assist in the preparation of Board Papers Assist with the tendering process and with land bids/PTPs Manage all Post Contract responsibilities. Manage the Sub-Contract procurement process, oversee ordering and resolve any contractual disputes Create and monitor budgets for sub-contractors and materials To monitor and control all Budgets (prelims, sales & marketing, technical & land) Approve order and payment variations Liaise with the buying function for orders and the control of materials Provide cost reports and key date updates within deadlines Manage communication with other disciplines (sales, land, construction, architects and consultants) About You Knowledge Surveying Degree or equivalent experience Working knowledge of current Building Regulations and current NHBC standards Good technical knowledge Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the wider aims of the business Knowledge of standard forms of contract Skills Computer literate, specifically with Outlook, word, excel Ability to produce accurate reports and presentations Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills Ability to work under own initiative, managing conflicting demands in a time pressurised environment Ability to meet demands whilst under pressure Extremely organised and confident with the ability to plan own and team workload Excellent attention to detail Effective at building relationships both internally and externally Demonstrate a willingness to learn and share new ideas Self-motivated and proactive in your approach Ability to challenge current ways of working with innovative ideas and solutions Experience Experience of leading and managing a successful team Experience of motivating and getting the best out of a team We recognise that a diverse team makes us a stronger and more successful company.
