The Role
Proactive Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a well-established contracting company based in Dudley / Birmingham.
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Plant / Mechanical Fitter to carry out maintenance and repairs on fixed plant and production machinery at customer sites. The role requires a proactive individual who can minimise downtime and maintain high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Planned and reactive maintenance on fixed plant machinery
*
Fault-finding, breakdown response, and repairs
*
Ensure machinery meets safety and compliance standards
*
Safe use of hand tools and power tools
*
Mechanical, welding, and basic fabrication work
*
Work on equipment including granulators, shredders, and balers (training provided)
Skills & Experience (Essential)
*
Proven experience as a Plant Fitter / Mechanical Fitter
*
Strong mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability
*
Experience in medium or heavy industrial environments
*
Welding and fabrication skills (stick welding minimum)
*
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Requirements
*
Full, valid UK driving licence
*
Good communication skills in English
