Principal Control & Instrumentation Engineer
Responsibilities:
* Work activities will include both project and proposal work where both the technical approach and continuity must be aligned.
* Project work as the functional Lead Engineer for projects as required by the C&I Group Manager.
* Work activities for both projects and proposals will be executed across all phases of projects including Conceptual Studies; Basic; FEED; Detailed Design; Procurement through to Commissioning.
* Projects and proposals are for process plant and facilities across the Chemical; Oil and Gas; Power and Energy Transition/ New Energy sectors.
* Development of Instrument Engineering deliverables as required on a project by project basis.
* Assist the C&I Group Manager in developing corporate procedures, standards, specifications, and the required design tools for compliance with SHE policy and efficient execution of work.
* Define the Development and Training needs for the discipline, support graduate and young Engineer/designer development.
Requirements:
* Significant experience of Instrument Engineering Design on Medium / Large capital projects from concept to start-up.
* Extensive Chemical and/or Refinery Experience.
* Competent within the C&I Discipline of a contracting organization.
* Ability to Lead the C&I Discipline interface with other Disciplines.
* Proactive communicator, liaising with Client Engineers & Project Management.
* Degree qualified in a related discipline.
* Working towards Chartered Engineer status with IMC or IET.
* Proven equipment specification, selection, and compliance assurance experience, preferably within an EPC contracting organization.
* Competent in project execution using design tools and techniques.
* Capable of budget & schedule control, monitoring, and reporting.
* Knowledge of design safety, constructability, and working to company standards.
* Innovative when appropriate.
* Competent in Electrical protection methodologies, Specification, technical bid analysis, and requisitioning of Field Instrumentation and Analysers.
* Experience with DCS, PLC, and SIS systems, full lifecycle knowledge.
* Knowledge of Hazardous Area Instrumentation (ATEX).
* Proficient in Instrumentation and Control requirements for Mechanical packages and P&ID development.
* Ability to size flow devices, control valves, and relief devices.
Desirable:
* Automation and Control lifecycle activities.
* Safety System lifecycle activities.
* Fire & Gas systems.
* Familiarity with exSILentia software.
* Experience leading global delivery teams.
* CompEx qualification.
