Hall Grove School
Lab technician
€25,000 a year
Posted: 13 January
Offer description

Hall Grove School is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and motivated Science Technician to join our growing team in the newly-established senior school. Ideally, the successful candidate will be available to start work in the summer term 2026, but a September 2026 start will be considered.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a modern Science department as we prepare for our first cohort of GCSE students sitting GCSEs in May 2028. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting high-quality science teaching across Years 5–11 in purpose-built laboratories and preparation rooms. While the majority of time will be spent supporting Key Stage 3 and 4, we have a large and thriving prep-school covered by the same science team. They will join an ambitious and enthusiastic Science department who seek to ensure that the pupils are exposed to as much practical work as possible.

An experienced technician with a background in biochemistry or chemistry, and a history of supporting science in schools would be preferred. However, a well-motivated and organised professional with a science background willing to develop the expertise needed would be considered.

This is a part-time role and will be paid on an hourly basis (£25/hour). The work will take place across 5 days of the school week, likely to be a minimum of 4 hours per day across 5 days up to a maximum 6 hours per day across 5 days. As far as possible and subject to timetabling requirements, flexibility with timings can be offered. This is a term-time only role (term dates are published on the school website).

To better understand the unique learning environment that is Hall Grove, all applicants are strongly encouraged to visit our website Hall Grove School - Home Page prior to applying.

Hall Grove is committed to safeguarding, keeping children safe from harm and promoting their welfare. All staff have the responsibility for safeguarding children and this is a key part of the role.

Applications to the Headmaster (completed application form) by email ( n.tomlin@hallgrove.co.uk ). Closing Date: 1800hrs on Friday 20 February 2026. Option to have an informal discussion about the role with the Deputy Head Academic ( l.mcleod@hallgrove.co.uk )

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (as amended) and full safeguarding checks will be undertaken prior to appointment. The school is committed to equal opportunities, welcoming applications from all those who meet the essential requirements of the role.
