Our automotive lighting client based in Redditch is searching for an Optical Design Team Leader on a permanent basis, 39 hours a week.
Main Purpose:
* To provide support to optical designers to ensure a high quality of design is maintained.
Key Duties / Responsibilities:
* Provide support to optical design engineers to ensure a high quality of design is maintained.
* To monitor sickness, holidays, leave and grievance – first point of contact for team members.
* Support fellow Team Leaders and promote cross team working and “get the job done” attitude.
* Allocate and plan resource between teams to meet project timing and budgets.
* Promote teamwork in day-to-day activities.
* Responsible for highlighting areas of concern to Project Management through project life.
* Ensure timesheets are completed accurately to allow analysis of costs and budgets.
* Manage project progress against agreed budget & timing to meet customer/internal specification and requirements. Review and feedback to Project Management team weekly.
* Provide Optical Design support when required to ensure projects are completed on time.
* Manage flow of data from customer to supplier.
* Manage optical design activities to meet customer technical requirements from initial concept to production for the whole product life cycle.
* Review and control design changes during product life cycle.
* Coordinate optical design activities within the company and with the customer.
* Ensure customer requirements are captured and managed on time and to specification.
* Contribute to development of BOMS including the selection / approval of materials suitable for functionality / application, P Diagram and DFMEA.
* Assist in initiating and maintaining relationships with external suppliers.
* Maintain concise records and documentation in the form of a project folder to allow complete traceability of the projects development.
Generic Tasks:
* To promote and support Bee Lighting Processes and Procedures.
* Support Directors and HR to maintain existing and develop new Company Policies and Procedures.
* Ensure Policies and Procedures are followed at all times.
* Any other duties as directed by a director.
Personal Specification Requested:
* Strong communication skills.

* Ideally have experience in 3D CAD systems including Catia V5.
