Technical Business Developer, Subsea Engineering

Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Technical Subsea Network Business Developer to help build and scale one of the world’s largest and most complex networks. This role, within the Global Connectivity Infrastructure Development (GCID) organization, is responsible for planning and building subsea backbone capacity in close coordination with other team members. The candidate should be self-driven, have the ability to learn quickly and influence decision-making across organizations. You will work closely with various Amazon business units to gather, refine and drive program goals to develop and deliver submarine cable projects.
Key job responsibilities
In this position, the candidate will work closely with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement submarine cable projects across the globe. They will organize, track, and coordinate with vendors and internal and external teams to deliver new subsea backbone capacity for Amazon. They will work with capacity planners and engineers to ensure the most efficient and cost effective network topology is developed and delivered. The candidate will collaborate with a wide variety of internal teams including business development, finance, tax, legal, and deployment to successfully implement their plans.
A day in the life
Our projects are multi year in duration, requiring careful planning, disciplined execution and with a growing program, constant invention and simplification. We work with internal and external stakeholders and partners, driving projects to meet our goals and timelines. We ensure that the delivery of the projects from concept to operation meet our high standards and specifications. When faced with an issue or delay, we invent to solve for the roadblock alerting our customers along the way. Communications are crisp, timely and always advise a path forward. We learn from each other, ensuring global consistency.

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
* Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
* Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
* 5-years subsea industry experience with extensive knowledge of fiber optic networks and submarine cables
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
* Ability to merge traditional project management with agile processes.
* Experience in automation, operational excellence, or continuous improvement techniques.
