Job Description
Finance Assistant duties will include:Finance & Accounting
3. Process purchase orders and supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper authorisation
4. Support with sales invoice creation and distribution; assist with debt monitoring and chasing payments
5. Handle supplier queries, process refunds/credit notes, and liaise with staff and external contacts
6. Manage and maintain data on financial systems
7. Assist with journal entries, bank reconciliations, and petty cash/income handling
8. Provide financial reports and budget support to staff as required
9. Help to organise school trips and associated payments (hotels, transport, etc.)
10. Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems for audit purposes
Administration & Communication
11. Act as the first point of contact for finance-related queries, managing email and phone communications efficiently
12. Maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive financial data
13. Update and maintain inventory/asset records and complete annual checks
14. Assist with general office administration, including data entry, reception duties and producing documents or spreadsheets
15. Provide support and guidance to school staff on finance procedures and systems
The Successful Applicant
A successful Finance Assistant should have:
16. Proven experience in accounting or finance roles.
17. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
18. Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
19. Knowledge of financial regulations and reporting standards.
20. A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
21. An ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
