About The Role
The Assistant Health & Safety Officer plays a key supporting role within the Health and Safety team, contributing to the effective implementation of health and safety arrangements across all campuses. Working under the guidance of the Health & Safety Officers and Senior Health & Safety staff, the post-holder will assist in maintaining a safe, compliant, and positive environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This role focuses on supporting day‑to‑day operational activities, undertaking routine monitoring and reporting tasks, and helping to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures. The post-holder will gain hands‑on experience across a wide range of health and safety functions, including fire safety monitoring, accident investigation, compliance audits, and the promotion of health and safety awareness.
The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop a career in health and safety within a large and diverse organisation. Working across multiple campuses, the Assistant Health & Safety Officer will contribute to continuous improvement, support the achievement of departmental performance targets, and help embed a strong health and safety culture across the Group.
This is a permanent, full‑time role which can be based at any of our campuses in Oxfordshire, Berkshire or Surrey.
What do you need to be successful as a Assistant Health & Safety Officer at Activate Learning?
You should have excellent interpersonal and ICT skills, and be comfortable giving presentations and producing reports. You should be used to achieving performance targets against deadlines.
The Successful Candidate Must Have
* A level 2 or equivalent qualification in Health and Safety
* Experience in risk assessment processes
At least a year's experience in a health and safety related role would be highly desirable.
