Band 4 Dental Nurse - Theatre

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and hard‑working dental nurse to join the Dental Theatre Team at Birmingham Dental Hospital. The post holder will support evening and weekend clinical activity as required. The position is available on a full-time basis: 1.0 WTE (37.5 hrs per week) on a Band 4 regimen.
Hours: Monday to Saturday, 7:30 am – 6 pm, with flexible working to meet service need. The role is based at Birmingham Dental Hospital but may also involve working across our outreach sites, including Community Dental Services (CDS) and Mobile Clinics.
Responsibilities
* Provide chair‑side assistance to clinicians within the dental service.
* Carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department.
* Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service.
* Prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre‑ and post‑operative instructions as required.
* Undertake the general care of the surgery, including dental equipment and instruments (medical devices) and arrange any necessary repairs.
* Ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date.
* Provide chair‑side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic and exodontia sessions as required.
* Provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician.
* Assist the Senior Dental Nurse in the smooth running of the Dental service.
* Support and assist clinicians including all student disciplines.
* Support and supervise apprentice nurses and undergraduate groups.
