Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal at Vet Record Careers
Taverham Vets is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our branch practice. You’ll have the chance to build strong client relationships and enjoy a varied caseload, with a commitment to the highest standards of patient care.
Salary up to £75,000 DOE, relocation allowance up to £2,000 and welcome bonus up to £5,000.
Responsibilities
* Confident vet who enjoys sole charge work, mainly caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, and the occasional small furry.
* Work with a dedicated RVN, ANA, and receptionist; on Fridays a new graduate vet joins to learn and develop alongside you.
* Balance of consultations and surgeries to ensure variety in daily work.
* Operate routine procedures such as spays, castrates, lump removals, and dentals; supported by an experienced RVN who runs nurse clinics.
* Carry out BVA KC hip and elbow scoring for the practice.
* Potential to develop surgical or medical interests with support at branch or main hospital, with access to additional facilities.
Practice and Facilities
* Well-equipped, cosy branch with efficient design: welcoming waiting area (separate spaces for cats and dogs), large consult room, x-ray room with dental x-ray, prep area and theatre, separate cat and dog kennels.
* In-house equipment includes portable ultrasound, dental x-ray, and on-site blood and urinalysis machines for high-quality first opinion care.
Support and Network
* Based in the branch but with access to support from the main Taverham Veterinary Hospital, a 15-minute drive away, including a multidisciplinary team with specialists in cardiology, diagnostic imaging, small animal medicine, feline medicine, surgery (including orthopaedics), ECC, and dentistry.
* Referrals to the main site are available when needed.
Work-Life Balance
* Full-time position of 40 hours per week, worked across four days.
* Weekend commitment: branch Saturday mornings 1:2 or main hospital one in four weekends; part-time hours considered for the right candidate.
