Role: IT Administrator – Contract to Permanent
Location: Harlow (near London) (on-site)
Day Rate: £125-£175 per day
We are looking for an experienced IT Administrator to join their Group IT function on a contract-to-permanent basis. This organisation offers a great opportunity to step into a hands-on, business-critical IT role with long-term potential.
The Role
You’ll act as the primary on-site IT support, taking ownership of day-to-day IT operations while delivering 1st and 2nd line support across both office and production environments. Working closely with the wider IT team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring system stability, supporting users, and driving improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the main on-site IT contact and escalation point
* Provide 1st and 2nd line support across office and operational environments
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues end-to-end, escalating where necessary
* Administer Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID)
* Support M365 upgrades, migrations, and modernisation initiatives
* Manage users, permissions, mailboxes, and security policies
* Set up and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals
* Support local infrastructure (networking, Wi-Fi, printers, firewalls)
* Monitor system performance, patching, backups, and security
* Provide hands-on support during changes (including floor-walking)
* Maintain IT asset, licence, and configuration records
* Support IT projects and continuous improvement initiatives
* Work with site stakeholders to understand IT needs and risks
* Ensure systems support security, compliance, and business continuity
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in an IT Administrator or senior support role
* Strong Microsoft 365 experience
* Experience with M365 migrations or upgrade projects
* Solid Windows desktop and server knowledge
* Good understanding of networking (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switching)
* Experience supporting users in operational or manufacturing environments
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Confident communicator with non-technical users
* Able to work independently on-site and collaborate remotely
* Security-conscious with a good understanding of IT best practices
